Teresa Donnelly and Bethany Miles kick off the 2003 School Sports season by becoming the first Brindabella swimmers to be selected in an ACT Schools team this year - this time in triathlon! Both competed in the Australian Schools Championships in Brisbane in April. Teresa was also given the honour of being team captain. This is Bethany's first season in triathlon - testament to the superior all-round athletic abilities of Brindabellans! |

Did Brindabella's intrepid undercover reporters find Jasmine and Sharmane in the Hyperdome's Santa Photo display this Christmas?? |

Talented all-rounder James Thorp was recently announced as one of only four ACT primary school winners of the Excellence in School Sport Award. Congratulations James! |
 |
Congratulations to Katrina Lewis, who has been awarded an ACT Academy of Sport Scholarship, which provides financial assistance as well as use of ACTAS facilities. As Katrina is off to Argentina in December for the IPC World Championships, this is a very timely boost! Katrina also qualified for the able-bodied 400m free for Summer Country - an awesome achievement for a swimmer who has come so far in a couple of years. |

Thirty-nine swimmers, along with parents, managers and coaches, took part in the 2003 "We Can't Be Beaten" Thredbo pilgrimage. A full-filled weekend from start to finish, apart from three two-hour training sessions (including a 2km time trial!). Most swimmers managed to stay awake long enough not to drown, but not much longer. A highlight was karaoke on Saturday night - at least that ensured that none of our stars would give up their day jobs. I promised not to name names here to ensure that the more embarrassing moments remain part of Club folklore, but Sonja's team did particularly well, whilst Thomas's team easily accounted for the mini-Olympics.
The Club would like to especially thank Mr Peter Freney, our guest coach for the weekend, from whom our swimmers learned a great deal. Thanks too to the superlative organisational skills of Jenny Thorp, ably assisted by Development Coach Greg, Rod Saywell, Steve Cossetto, Sylvia Mansell and Jenny Bowen-Smith. This year once again proved this is an absolute highlight of the Club's year and an event not to be missed (not so sure about the three two-hour sessions though!! - Editor). We'd like to thank also our valued sponsors for the weekend - KLa Accounting, Bars Fix Cars, Bogar Enterprises, Capital Golf Pro Shop, Inkline Advertising and Wiffens. |
